The Environment and Social Justice Team
Who are We?
The Environment and Social Justice Team (aka The Green Team) was formed in response to Bishop Michael Bird and the Diocese of Niagara creating the "Greening of Niagara Committee" and is part of the new arm of ministry that will help us more fully express ourselves as Christians. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month in the church librbary. You are welcome to become part of this exciting ministry by joining the group, or just by sharing your ideas. Contact Simon Jacques (Leader) through the St. James office (519-822-1061).
Faith Build 2013
St. James the Apostle will be participating in the 2013 Faith Build with Habitat for Humanity. Update to come.

Community Shared Agriculture Returns to St. James

The St. James Environmental and Social Justice Team is welcoming Green Being Farm to the church for the third year running. To find out more about Green Being Farm and the CSA program please go to their website http://www.greenbeingfarm.ca
Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) model is a way of bringing a community together through food. It's also a way for a community to support a farm, and in doing so, get access to high quality produce not generally available through retailers, often for less than it would cost at retail price.
The way it works: people become members by signing up and paying their membership fee. This fee entitles them to a season's worth of amazing, fresh, locally and organically grown produce. So as a member, you pay once, and then you receive a 'share' of the harvest. This CSA is a little different as it is a winter CSA. Green Being Farm’s program begins at the end of October and runs until late February. They will bring their produce to the church hall and meet the CSA members there once every other week. It is in this way that members get to know one another a little better, and connect with the farmers growing their food.
